Amanda Hanson is a novelist and poet based out of London, UK.

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, she worked as an acclaimed commercial and editorial photographer. In 2022, Amanda and her family sold nearly everything they owned and moved to Portugal. She spent two years as a travel photographer, exploring all over Europe. In 2025, Amanda and her family moved to London, where she is currently working on developing her second novel.

When Amanda isn’t obsessing over commas and the rhythms of sentences, she spends her days walking all over London.

Amanda also spends a good deal of time drawing creativity from the Theatre. Her current theatre obsession is 1536 by Ava Pickett and Oh, Mary! by Cole Escola.

Amanda’s an avid literary fiction reader, and pours over the books of authors such as Elizabeth Strout, Maggie O’Farrell, Kae Tempest, Isabella Hammad, Hisham Matar, Ayşegül Savaş, Ali Smith, Lily King, Lauren Groff and Zadie Smith.

She lives in a flat which is happily overflowing with books, with her husband, two daughters and their spaniel. Amanda is currently plotting on how to convince her landlord to let her have a second dog that she can name Judi (after Judi Dench).
